In with the new

So here is the new..... shelving that is.  They are deeper which means I have more shelve real estate for my lovely crafting things. It also means I have more desk space to work and my personal things could go on the shelf; up and out of the way but still within reach.

My space is quite small so I could only go back so far.  So I've thrown you a few crumbs to show you a bit of  where I sit to craft on a daily basis or watch movies or my favourite TV progs.

At desk level I store all the things I use the most - mainly embellishments, ribbons, buttons, bling, chipboard alphas.  Behind my laptop I store the things I don't use so often - metal emblishments, eyelets, wooden alpha sets.

First Shelf  I store the items I use alot along with items I need to have close at hand
*Right hand-side on the plastic shelving - fancy ribbons, small acrylic stamps, flowers, ink pads, large arcylic stamps, home made glimmer mist in a basket.
*Left hand-side in plastic drawers - glues, stamp blocks, acid free pens and other stuff

Top Shelf - Christmas Stuff, Chipboard in different shapes and sizes in various containers.  A few items at the back that I just can't bare to part with; yet.

Third Shelf that can't be seen in this photo has - all my foam stamps that I'm not sure what to do with, they may come back into scrapbooking fashion but not sure if I'll live that long...lol.

Out with the Old

I'd been a tad dissatisfied with my shelving, it was jam packed with stuff and alot of stuff  that i just didn't use any more.  So after the last April camp I decided to have a huge clear out of "stuff" and ended up filling up one of the larger Stevens bags - OMG.  I also compacted like items together which resulted in quite a few empty containers.

Now  back to the shelving - you know how some things happen for a reason, well that's exactly what happened.  My pantry cupboard door had become UN-hinged and when Al finally got round to fixing it we didn't have a long enough screw...blah blah blah.  So me having one of those light bulb moments said take them off and I'll use them in my room and so I could get rid of all the odd shelving I've in there.  And like most light bulb moments - easier said then done.

Before I completely demolished my craft space I remembered to take a few pictures

My junk journal / Smash book

These are all the rage on youtube and you can find heaps and heaps of videos on them and why crafters make them. Kinda reminds me of an Alternated book Miss Wendy is making for her brother - it's such a crack up. Can't wait to see the finished product.

A junk journal or smash book which they are also know as; is when you use your craft scraps to make a journal - nothing has to match and it seriously is a good way to use up all those left over bits and pieces from completed projects.

Feeling totally inspired I made my own on Sunday, Sunday is usually a good day for crafting in our house. I usually get up fairly early, shower, have breakie and then hide away in my craft area for the rest of the day. Emerging only for food, arguments or/and much needed, necessary pit stops.

If you want to know why I've created it see my other blog: http://niueanprincess.blogspot.com/
